Minors A Basics

  • In the spring, Minors will have separate A, AA, and AAA divisions.
  • In the fall, the A and AA divisions are combined into a single Minors division.
  • The A division, introduces players to pitching and hitting from a pitched ball.
  • There are several innings of full coach pitch, followed by several innings of player pitch.
  • During the innings of player pitch, following 4 balls, rather than awarding a base on balls, a coach pitches to the batter to finish the at bat.
  • Winning games should not be the goal.
  • Teach the fundamental skills of baseball and provide all the players with an opportunity to learn all positions, skills, good sportsmanship, and the rules of the game in a safe, positive and fun environment.
  • Reinforces the basics of batting while adding pitch selection and recognition.
  • Continued development of throwing and catching from all positions and adding both pitchers and catchers.
  • League Age 7-9
